plied and on a holder, my first handspun

Now I need to do something with it.

However, I never realised how relaxing spinning is. I think I've just addicted myself to something else.

this is from last night, on the spindle, there's another 25g there waiting for me to ply. That seems harder to work out than the spinning

pinwheel blanket

Finished finally. I decided that the idea of a lacy border wouldn't work, so just did a ruffle on the edge instead. My daughter has decided it makes a great lawn in her games. She plays with toys on it and has picnics on it.

however, you can check the flickr account to see what she's done to herself. I can't bring myself to copy that picture here because she did look so cute and now looks an absolute fright. She did that to herself. I suppose it could have been much worse than a haircut.

Apart from that. I ordered myself and himself 2gig usb sticks from dabs. They arrived 22 hours after I'd ordered them with standard postage. Got to call that good service.

I'm also going to be bottling my first red wine tonight, hopefully drinking some of it as well. I've also got the orange wine to decant into a demijohn. it's starting to make my front room stink. i know that will take ages to be ready, so I'll look into getting another cheap kit on Saturday. They are drinkable enough for the cost of them.

what a great day

Just got a package from my knitty SP, scrummy yarn, masks for the kids, kool aid and chocolate. I'll photograph it later, but I'm very, very happy with what she sent me and I'm working on how to size the fuzzi feet for my daughter

I also ordered some Shetland yarn, some combed tops, a spindle and a knitting thimble form Jamieson and Smith. Lovely person on the phone. postage costs are the cost of postage and their prices are like nothing we normally see in the UK, CHEAP. Can't wait for it to arrive.

the surgery went well

I got the glass removed, the surgical team were absolutely brilliant and I'm going to get a copy of the picture they took of my bit of glass next week. I'll show you guys when i get the picture.

However, I'm in a fiar bit of pain, I can't put weight on it for 3 weeks and I'm dopey from the medication I'm on. I've had to cancel plans to go to a knitting show, a stitch and bitch night and a day out in a couple of London museums. I'm feeling really quite disappointed now.

I'll try to make some new posts here. I am still knitting, slowly, but normal service will probably not be resumed until after I'm mobile again.

my foot

This is that they do to you when you ahve a bit of glass stuck in your foot that they cannot get out. So far, I've been on the phone to NHS direct, been to the minor injuries clinic, been to a podiatrist, he spent 2 hours prodding and cutting and injecting my foot.

I'm booked in for surgery on it on Wednesday.

the girlchild

this is what happens when you let a 3 year old dress herself in the morning. She's wearing a woolly hat as well now.

finally, you see knitting

I finished a few of the Ceron bags, well, without the embellishments, whether they get the flower buttons or something else will depend on who they go to. They will go as pressies to friend's kids, or maybe some of my son's friends over the next few months. I always try to keep a few standby gifts in a box at home, so when I forget about a child's birthday, I can produce a suitable gift.

Now onto some added cuteness. I'm her mother. i'm supposed to blatently show off the cuteness of my small girl

I'm not timewasting,

I'm just not finishing anything knitting related either.

I have got a demijohn of wine clearing in the kitchen. I have got another by the radiator beginning to ferment. I have cleared brambles on the allotment. I have cleaned the kitchen. I have cooked several lovely meals. I have made all the bread we have eaten in the last 10 days. I have actually done some knitting.

However, I haven't actually finished anything, which is quite pathetic considering that I could finish 10 small items with an evening's sewing, one just needs a block and button. So I have no knitting photos to show you. So instead, I will show you a picture of my homebrew wine.

The plan tonight is to clean the filth off my kitchen floor, soak and cook beans ready for a bean chilli tomorrow, then sit and watch some Star Trek and start to sew up some of my nearly finished objects.

Now I watch the cat, watching the wine, he's taken up station so he can see the bubbles going through the airlock. It seems to fascinate him as much as he fascinates me.

Tomorrow should bring some knitting photos.

Soppy cat

Couldn't resist showing off this pic. That is a great lump of cat, that likes to lie on his back, with all 4 legs in the air and mewl for attention in the form of tummy rubs. he bears a significant resemblance to a sea otter feeding, with legs in the air and nose looking over his belly.
